Best Places for Snowfall in India

When we talk about winter holidays in India, several eye-catching and picturesque places, common and uncommon, emerge on our mind scape. Lets go through them one by one.

No other place in the country could possibly top my list. The mesmerizing Jammu and Kashmir is often called jannat (heaven) because of its pristine valleys, the Himalayas in the distance and the glittering Dal Lake at its heart. There are several places in Kashmir where you can enjoy snow.

Pahalgam: At a height of 8,900 (approx.) ft. above the sea level, Pahalgam is one of the biggest tourist attractions for snow lovers and is ideal for winter sports like skiing.

Gulmarg: About 46 kms away from Srinagar, this gorgeous place is popular for skiing amid snow-capped mountains.

Sonamarg: A popular destination among the snow and mountain lovers, this place is covered with a beautiful sheet of snow in the peak winters and is a sight to see and experience. Since summers hit this area a bit late, in May, you can occasionally find snow in April, while the rest of the country is already playing host to summers.
