Delhi metro price has been raised by 4 times. Government did this to demotivate people from using personal vehicle. Delhi is gasping for fresh air, pollution level has reached the all time high. And to control this situation some major decision has been taken from government. The Delhi government has also advised residents to avoid using their own vehicles in light of the hazardous conditions. They decided in a meeting to raise the metro price to four folds, so that peoples starts using public transport. Earlier metro parking rates for two wheeler were:
Delhi Metro Parking Rate (Old)
|0-6 hours||Rs. 10|
|6-12 hours||Rs. 15|
|12+ hours||Rs. 20|
|Night Charges||Rs. 20 (additional)|
After this change in metro parking fare:
Delhi Metro Parking Rate (New)
|0-1 hour||Rs. 10|
|For each hour after first hour||Rs. +5|
|Night Charges||Rs. 100|
This way government is trying to force people to use public transport instead of personal vehicle. Higher parking prices will help Delhi to fight against Pollution. The announcement was made at a meeting chaired by Lt Governor Anil Baijal. Apart from Delhi Metro, Municipal Corporation of Delhi and DDA too have hiked their parking rates.
And on similar basis rates for 4 wheeler (cars) parking has also increased.
|0-1 hour||Rs. 20|
|For each hour after first hour||Rs +10|
|Night Charges||Rs 200|
